Mosaic Walls in Progress - Early Stages
Sonia's currently working on four large mosaic murals
for Children's Medical Center of Dallas. The walls, each approximately
8' high by 17' wide will be featured on four new patient floors. Created
from a varied mix of materials, the mosaics are designed to be visually
stimulating as well as texturally engaging. Many thanks to Mitchell Associates, the Interior Architecture firm, for the
professional renderings of Sonia's designs.
Lots of graphics on this page so it may be slow loading.
Please be patient!
Shapes
Each curved wall has a theme: Shapes, Symbols,
Balloons and Nature. Not only do the elements change size
and color as they move across the wall, but the background also changes
color as it flows from left to right.

Wall number one, in the beginning. The blue spots are
masking tape labels.

Sorry for the odd angle. The Balloon wall is the first
one finished but it's not installed in this picture. This was taken
from a ladder in order to get it all in the picture.
Here's the Shapes wall, being installed on panels by
Ryan Skinner. The panels will be hung and 'fresco grouting' begins next
week.
