Mosaic Class In New Zealand

Advanced Mosaic Workshop with Sonia King
November 5, 6 and 7, 2004
Grey Lynn Community Centre, Auckland

The class will specifically cover working with texture through varied
cutting and laying styles and/or mixed materials, working direct using
cement-based adhesive. Technically there will be extensive inquiry into
cutting techniques, varied materials, laying techniques and broadening your
skill set. But most importantly, you'll leave the advanced class with an
elevated sense of what mosaic is all about, a new way of thinking about your
work and the knowledge to enable you to push to the next level. A slide
lecture includes examples of both ancient and modern mosaics from around the
world. Some prior mosaic experience is recommended.

The class will be from 10 to 4 pm on November 5, 6 and 7, 2004 and the cost
is NZ$400. Some materials will be available for purchase but plan on
bringing anything that interests you in the way of traditional materials as
well as any found objects, pebbles or unusual materials you might have.
